The pattern of this impressive linen print is interpreted from one of the many carved Chinese doors in Tony Duquette’s Beverly Hills house, Dawnridge. Duquette loved printed fabrics with borders and was forever cutting them up and sewing the borders together, using them for chair skirts and valances or gluing borders all around the room to create heightened architectural interest. Xanadu captures the pattern of the original carved openwork lacquer doors in a panel print that is bordered on the sides and center with a classic fretwork frieze. The colors range from soft to bold hues and include a cobalt blue-and-coral red colorway that’s adapted from the original. It beckons to be used as edged curtain panels, chair or headboard upholstery. A coordinating wallpaper of the same name is offered for additional imaginative wall applications.
